Book now

Plum trees grow all round Bramley Cottage. It was built new in 2022 on a working fruit farm in the Essex countryside near Chipping Ongar, a dog friendly cottage for two with a single double bedroom, and one dog welcome to share it, along with the doggy extras the owners leave out.

No stairs at all here. The open plan living space has a wood burner, underfloor heating a dog will find within the hour, and bi-fold doors that fold back onto the patio, so the room and the garden become one. That garden is enclosed, with furniture, a barbecue and a fire pit, and the orchard trees stand close around it. From the bedroom window the view is of the farm and the fields beyond.

It is a place for a couple and their dog who want very little to happen. Guests describe it as tucked among the orchard trees, and that is the feel of it: the fire pit lit as the evening comes on, the dog on the patio listening to the farm, and a pot of the farm's own honey on the kitchen table. In season you can pick plums from the trees yourself.

Epping Forest lies to the west, woodland paths and open rides that give a dog miles of walking close to London, and Hainault Forest and Thorndon Country Park are near enough for a change. The Epping Ongar steam railway sets out from Chipping Ongar, a short drive, and the market towns round about each keep a weekly market day.

We research every description carefully and believe it to be accurate, but details can change. Please confirm anything important, especially dog rules, with the booking agent or property owner before you book.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Bramley Cottage dog friendly?

Yes, Bramley Cottage welcomes one dog alongside its two human guests. The owners go out of their way to make dogs feel at home, leaving out doggy extras, and the enclosed garden and single-level layout make it a genuinely easy place to stay with a dog.

  • Are dogs allowed at Bramley Cottage year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it appears dogs are welcome whenever the cottage is available to book. It's always worth confirming directly with the owners if you have specific dates in mind.

  • What should I know before visiting Bramley Cottage with my dog?

The cottage accommodates one dog, so it's not the right fit if you're travelling with more than one. On the plus side, there are no stairs to navigate, the garden is enclosed so your dog can roam safely outside, and Epping Forest is nearby offering miles of woodland walking.
