1 / 12Bridge Farm - The Old Engine House
Drimpton, Dorset
A converted barn for five on a working beef farm at Drimpton in west Dorset, with an enclosed lawned garden, doggy extras and two dogs welcome.
Drimpton is a quiet village in the far west of Dorset, and The Old Engine House stands on a working beef farm at the edge of it, with the owners living next door. It is a converted barn and a dog friendly one, three bedrooms sleeping five, two dogs welcome and a pack of doggy extras set out for them.
Outside is an enclosed lawned garden with a patio and furniture, and that is the dogs' own patch. Two things beyond it are worth knowing. There is a stream in the grounds about 50 yards off, fenced, and the fields around the farm hold cattle, so the lead goes on at the garden's edge. Inside, the front door is one step up, and the ground floor has its own toilet and a utility room for muddy kit.
The living room and the kitchen and dining room make up the rest of the downstairs. Up the stairs, with a stairgate provided if a dog needs keeping down, the king size bedroom has its own walk-in shower, the second bedroom has two singles, and the third a small double, with a family bathroom for those two. For a larger party it can be booked with the neighbouring properties on the farm, up to nine people in all.
Forde Abbey is very close, its gardens and lakes laid out round a former Cistercian monastery, and the lanes and footpaths round the village run through the rolling farmland of the Dorset and Somerset border. The Jurassic Coast is within driving distance, at Lyme Regis, Charmouth and West Bay, and fossils can be picked off the shore at the first two while the dog makes its own finds.

Is Bridge Farm - The Old Engine House dog friendly?
Yes, The Old Engine House warmly welcomes dogs — up to two are allowed to stay. There's an enclosed lawned garden that's very much the dogs' own patch, and a set of doggy extras is laid out for them on arrival.
Are dogs allowed at Bridge Farm - The Old Engine House year round?
The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, and as a self-catering property on a working farm it operates year round. It's always worth confirming directly with the owners if you're planning a visit at a quieter time of year.
What should I know before visiting Bridge Farm - The Old Engine House with my dog?
The enclosed garden is a safe space for your dogs, but leads are needed beyond its boundary — the surrounding fields are used for cattle grazing, and there's a fenced stream around 50 yards from the garden. Inside, there's a handy utility room for muddy kit after walks, and a stairgate is provided if you'd rather keep your dog on the ground floor.
