Bishopstone, Wiltshire
A traditional terraced cottage in the heart of Bishopstone, sleeping three, with a wood burner, a pretty tiered enclosed garden with views across the Ridgeway and one dog welcome.
Brigadoon is a beautiful, traditional cottage in the heart of Bishopstone, in rural Wiltshire, with a serene, calming interior and a pretty, tiered garden. It sleeps three with one dog welcome, and walking trails from the village lead out onto the Ridgeway National Trail, which makes this dog friendly cottage a natural choice for walkers.
Shoes and coats come off in the entrance hall, which doubles as the utility room, and the bright and spacious kitchen/diner seats four at its table. The inviting lounge has a south-facing bay window, a writing desk, a Smart TV and a large, comfortable three-seater facing the wood burner, and the dog's favourite place is soon the warm spot by the burner.
Upstairs are two large bedrooms with south-facing windows and views, furnished with a king-size and a single respectively, plus the family bathroom. Patio doors from the kitchen open to the enclosed garden, where the south-facing patio has a bistro table and views across the Ridgeway, and steps lead down to a decked suntrap in the lower garden. Across the lawn, a gate opens onto steps down to the village footpath known as The City, and the dog's walks can begin right there.
From The City there are walks around the village and out into the surrounding countryside, and the Ridgeway brings big views for a dog and its walkers. Avebury, 17 miles away, has one of the best-known prehistoric sites in Britain, with three stone circles inside its Neolithic henge, and Cirencester, the capital of the Cotswolds, makes a good day out.

Book with holidaycottages.co.ukFrequently Asked Questions
Is Brigadoon dog friendly?
Yes, Brigadoon welcomes one dog. The cottage has a fully enclosed garden at the back with decking, so your dog can be outside safely without you having to worry about them wandering off.
Are dogs allowed at Brigadoon year round?
The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth contacting the owners directly to confirm availability for your dates. What we can say is that the surrounding Wiltshire downs and the Ridgeway make it a genuinely rewarding destination for dog walking at any time of year.
What should I know before visiting Brigadoon with my dog?
Brigadoon accepts one dog, so it's not the right fit if you're travelling with more than one. The good news is that the walking starts directly from the village — no car needed — with the chalk escarpment climbing straight off the back of Bishopstone and the Ridgeway running along the top of the downs.
