Bull Close Cottage is a charming 17th century cottage in the peaceful hamlet of Skelwith Fold, tucked away from the hustle and bustle yet within easy reach of the South Lakes, and four guests and two dogs can stay. Beautiful countryside surrounds this dog friendly cottage and fantastic walking lies all around, so the boots go on and the dogs lead the way to the fells.
Modern style blends with period features throughout. The living room is cosy and bursting with character, with a wood beam ceiling, ample seating round the wood burner and feature fireplace, and a sunny book nook with a rocking chair, where somebody reads while the dogs doze by the wood burner. The impressive, spacious kitchen has every mod con for fine meals, and next door four can sit down to dinner in a dining room full of light.
Upstairs, the master bedroom has wood panelled walls and a view of the surrounding hills, and the twin is a cosy room. Outside, the enclosed front garden is the dogs' first stop of the morning, and the rear garden has outdoor furniture for a drink in the evening with both of them flat out after the fells.
Loughrigg Tarn has a circular walk 2.5 miles away and a riverside path leads to Elterwater, Chapel Stile is the gateway to the magnificent Langdale Valley, and Wansfell Pike and the Fairfield Horseshoe wait for the big days with the dogs. Ambleside, 3 miles off, has independent shops, cinemas and cafes, Beatrix Potter's former home at Hill Top is in the care of the National Trust, and the ferry crosses Windermere towards Hawkshead.
