1 / 24Capel Neigwl
Botwnnog, Gwynedd
A chapel built in 1874 near Botwnnog on the Llyn Peninsula, refurbished to sleep ten across five bedrooms, with an enclosed garden, a hot tub and two dogs welcome.
Capel Neigwl was built as a chapel in 1874 and refurbished by its owner in 2017, and the result is a dog friendly stay for ten people and two dogs that keeps its exposed beams and adds unique lighting and custom made furniture throughout. It stands detached in private grounds near Botwnnog, within walking distance of Hells Mouth beach.
Underfloor heating starts in the porch, a kind welcome for a dog coming in from the sand. A bespoke staircase of concrete, wood and glass climbs to the heart of the house, where lounge, kitchen and dining space open out together beneath the apex of the roof, with a hand crafted kitchen, comfortable sofas, a wood burner and balcony doors to open for the seagulls and birdsong. A king size room with its own shower room shares that level, a double up top looks into the heart of the building, and three more bedrooms wait on the ground floor.
The enclosed garden has a raised lawn and a paved area with table and chairs, and while somebody lights the portable barbecue, the dogs can lounge on the raised lawn. The hot tub is there to sink into as evening comes on, and outdoor table tennis keeps whoever still has energy busy.
With Hells Mouth so close, the morning walk can take the dogs straight down to the sea. Abersoch, with its boutique shops and sheltered harbour, is within easy reach, as are Aberdaron, Llanbedrog and Pwllheli, and the Whistling Sands at Porthor and the maritime museum at Nefyn make fine days out on the Llyn.

Is Capel Neigwl dog friendly?
Yes, Capel Neigwl welcomes up to two dogs. The converted chapel has underfloor heating throughout, so wet paws land on a warm floor the moment you arrive, and there's an enclosed, level garden at the back where the dogs can settle while everyone works out the plan for the day.
Are dogs allowed at Capel Neigwl year round?
The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, and nothing in the description suggests otherwise. If you want to confirm availability for specific dates, it's worth checking directly with the owner.
What should I know before visiting Capel Neigwl with my dog?
The property accepts a maximum of two dogs, so it's not suitable for larger groups travelling with more than that. The staircase is concrete, wood and glass, which is worth bearing in mind for dogs less steady on their feet, and the open-plan upper floor reaches all the way to the roof apex, so the space is airy and generous rather than cosy and enclosed. Porth Neigwl, a four-mile stretch of sand known as Hell's Mouth, is nearby and makes for a serious run out.
