1 / 15Carefree Cottage
West Lulworth, Dorset
A two bedroom cottage half a mile from Lulworth Cove with an enclosed rear garden on two terraces, one dog welcome, and Durdle Door a mile and a half away.
Half a mile from Lulworth Cove is about as close as you can stay to the best known stretch of the Jurassic Coast without sleeping in the car park. Carefree Cottage is a two bedroom cottage in West Lulworth with a wood burner, logs provided through the winter months, an enclosed rear garden and a dog welcome.
Whilst you walk down to the cove, your dog has the Jurassic Coast at its most concentrated. The cove itself is half a mile down the road. Durdle Door, a mile and six tenths on, carries a nine with us. Worbarrow Bay at two and three tenths takes an eight and takes you into the Tyneham ranges, which open to the public most weekends. Chalk turf underfoot, sea below, and cliffs with fossils falling out of them.
The rear garden is enclosed and laid out on two terraces, the upper one reached by seven steps, so there is somewhere to sit and somewhere for a single dog to be on the level. Logs are included from October to the end of April, which is when this coast is at its best for walking anyway. Durdle Door in February with nobody on it is a different place from Durdle Door in August, and your dog will register the difference before you do.

Book with holidaycottages.co.ukFrequently Asked Questions
Is Carefree Cottage dog friendly?
Yes, Carefree Cottage welcomes dogs. The cottage has an enclosed rear garden laid out on two terraces, giving your dog somewhere to roam safely while you settle in.
Are dogs allowed at Carefree Cottage year round?
Yes, the cottage is available with dogs year round. If anything, the winter and shoulder seasons are particularly well suited to dog owners — logs are included from October through to the end of April, and the nearby walks at Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove are a different experience entirely when the crowds have gone.
What should I know before visiting Carefree Cottage with my dog?
The rear garden is enclosed but laid out on two terraces connected by seven steps, so it's worth bearing that in mind if your dog has mobility issues — there is a level terrace, but the garden isn't fully flat. The listing mentions one dog is welcome, so if you're travelling with more than one, it's worth checking with the owner before booking.
