Alnwick, Northumberland
A terraced house for four and one dog, tucked in a quiet spot off the cobbled centre of Alnwick, with an enclosed rear garden, a gas barbecue and doggy extras.
Tucked down a quiet way just off the cobbled streets, Chapel View is right in the centre of Alnwick without feeling it. The mid terrace house takes four people and one dog, and the reason it works as a dog friendly stay is at the back: an enclosed rear garden with seating, furniture and a gas barbecue.
There are eight steps up to the front door. Inside, the sitting room has a smart TV and a sofa that a dog will soon claim, and the kitchen is well kitted out, with a coffee machine, a tumble dryer for towels after the beach, and a table for four. The garden is enclosed, so the dog can potter while the barbecue heats up, and there are four steps within it, which is worth knowing with a short legged or elderly dog.
Upstairs, the main bedroom has a king size bed and its own television, the second a double, and the bathroom has a large shower over the bath. The owners leave a welcome pack and doggy extras. It is a house for two couples, or a couple who want space, and for a dog who likes the sound of a town going about its business just out of sight.
The Pastures, the open meadows along the River Aln below the castle walls, are the nearest morning walk and a few minutes from the door with the dog. The harbour at Seahouses, with boats out to the seals and seabirds of the Farne Islands, is a short drive north, and Bamburgh Castle and Holy Island are both within a day out with the dog.

Book with cottages.comFrequently Asked Questions
Is Chapel View dog friendly?
Yes, Chapel View welcomes one dog. The enclosed rear garden is really the heart of the dog-friendly setup here — your dog can roam freely while you get the barbecue going, without any worry about escape routes.
Are dogs allowed at Chapel View year round?
The listing doesn't specify seasonal restrictions, so it's best to check directly with the owners when booking if you're planning a trip at a particular time of year. What we can say is that the location lends itself to year-round visits — the Pastures along the River Aln are on the doorstep whatever the season, and Bamburgh and Holy Island are rewarding day trips at any time.
What should I know before visiting Chapel View with my dog?
The main thing to be aware of is the steps — there are eight up to the front door, and four within the enclosed rear garden, so it's worth bearing that in mind if your dog is elderly or short-legged. On the plus side, the owners leave doggy extras as part of the welcome pack, and there's a tumble dryer in the kitchen, handy for drying off after a beach run to Seahouses or Bamburgh.
