Chestnut Cottage is a beautifully appointed character property in a rural setting near Falmouth, part of the Enys Estate in years gone by and lovingly fitted and furnished around an array of original features. Four guests and one dog have it all on one level, and the owners describe the fully enclosed garden as ideal for dogs, which gets a dog friendly stay off to the right start.
Through the stable door lies one beautifully appointed living room, lounge, kitchen and diner together, where a vaulted ceiling rises over a wood burner and tasteful furnishings to sink into, and the Smart TV comes on once the fire is roaring and the dog has stretched out before it. Double doors lead from the lounge straight out to the garden. The kitchen is thoughtfully styled, the king size room has a built in wardrobe, and the twin, at the far end, is generously roomy.
Outside, alfresco meals happen on the spacious, furnished terrace over a charcoal BBQ, and beyond it the fully enclosed garden is the dog's to explore while the coals heat up. It is a lovely garden to relax in, and long evenings get spent out there, dog and all.
There are plenty of walks and mining trails nearby to explore with the dog, and the waterside town of Penryn is close, with its eateries and pubs. Falmouth has shops, galleries and restaurants serving locally caught seafood, a harbour that is the third largest natural harbour in the world, and a leisurely stroll up to Pendennis Castle for an ice cream and panoramic views across Falmouth Bay to St Mawes.
