1 / 17Cob Cottage
Ayr, South Ayrshire
A cottage for four outside Ayr with a south facing enclosed garden, decking and a hot tub, and the Ayrshire beaches a short drive away, two dogs welcome.
Robert Burns was born a few miles from this door and the whole of this coast has been trading on it ever since. Cob Cottage is a dog friendly cottage for four outside Ayr. The enclosed garden faces south with decking and a hot tub set into it and the Carrick hills standing up behind, and two dogs have the run of the lot.
Inside there are two bedrooms and two bathrooms, with one of each on the ground floor, and a wood burner in the lounge. The cottage is one of a small group of properties sharing the same ground. The garden is the reason to book it though: enclosed, decked, south facing, and holding the sun for most of the day, which two dogs will locate and occupy within about a minute of arriving.
The decking does something specific for a week with dogs in it. You come back off the sand, everybody is soaked, and instead of the whole business relocating indoors it simply stops outside: dogs drying on the boards, the hot tub filling, the hills going blue in the distance. By the third day nobody bothers going inside until it has gone properly dark.
Ayr's own beach is 4.3 miles off, a long flat sweep of sand with the harbour at one end, and the coast running north through Prestwick to Troon and Barassie offers more of the same, all of it open to dogs. Alloway and the Brig o' Doon are the Burns pilgrimage inland. Southward the Carrick coast runs on towards Dunure and Culzean for the grander day.

Book with holidaycottages.co.ukFrequently Asked Questions
Is Cob Cottage dog friendly?
Yes, Cob Cottage welcomes up to two dogs. They have the run of the enclosed south-facing garden, which includes decking and a hot tub, making it a genuinely practical setup for returning from a beach walk with wet, sandy dogs in tow.
Are dogs allowed at Cob Cottage year round?
The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth contacting the property directly to confirm availability for your dates. The enclosed garden and wood burner inside make it a setup that works well beyond the summer months.
What should I know before visiting Cob Cottage with my dog?
The cottage accommodates a maximum of two dogs, and the garden is enclosed, so they can roam freely outside without needing to be on a lead. It's worth noting that Cob Cottage is part of a small group of properties sharing the same grounds, so you'll have neighbours nearby.
