Cob Cottage lies at the entrance to the Martnaham Nature Reserve, a 2 mile stretch of water that is a haven for wildfowl and swans. Two dogs are welcome at this charming whitewashed cottage in the rolling Ayrshire countryside, a dog friendly stay for four with a south facing enclosed garden, decking and a private hot tub.
You step straight into the kitchen diner, where the dining area is made for family meals and a French door opens onto the decking. The hall leads through to a cosy lounge with a wood burner and a TV, the place for the dogs to stretch out after an epic day exploring. Beyond are two light and bright bedrooms, a double and a twin, along with a bathroom with a Jacuzzi bath and a separate shower room.
Outside, the enclosed garden faces south to catch the sun, with panoramic views of the hills beyond, a charcoal barbecue and seating for eating outdoors or lazy evening stargazing. The garden takes in the decking and the hot tub, and the dogs doze nearby while the barbecue does its work. On the left hand side of the drive, a seating area with a fallen log viewing spot looks across the loch, lovely for a coffee with the dogs.
Birdwatchers will find rare species here, in a Site of Scientific Interest for birds, ancient woodland and shoreland. The Ayrshire coast and countryside are a delight with a dog, full of coastal trails and country tracks, and the beach is 6 miles away. Alloway, the birthplace of Robert Burns, has his thatched cottage and the cobbled Brig o' Doon, and Culzean and Dumfries House make grand days out.
