Cowslip Cottage

Felton, Northumberland

A single storey cottage for four at Felton in Northumberland, with a fully enclosed south facing lawn, a double sided wood burner, treats in the hamper and two dogs welcome.

Book now

Cowslip Cottage has high beamed ceilings, walls of exposed brick and stone, and a wood burner set in an open brick fireplace that shows its flames to both halves of the room. Four people and two well behaved dogs fit this dog friendly cottage at Felton, a village in the Coquet valley in Northumberland.

There are no stairs anywhere, and French doors lead from the sitting end of the room out to the back. That garden is fully enclosed, lawned and south facing, with a patio and seating, so two dogs can be let out from the sofa and followed at leisure with a cup of tea. The welcome hamper on arrival has food for the people, treats for the dogs and a starter bag of fuel for the fire.

The two bedrooms are dressed for sleeping well, one with a double and one with a super king that can be separated into singles. Evenings centre on that fire. The kitchen table seats four within sight of it, the living area has the other side of it, and two dogs tend to find the rug in the middle and stay there until someone mentions the lead.

Felton sits on the River Coquet, with the sea a few miles off to the east. Warkworth has its castle above the river, and Druridge Bay runs for miles of sand and dune where a dog can walk a long way without meeting anyone. Alnwick is a few minutes north, with its castle and cobbled streets, and the Roman forts along Hadrian's Wall are a day out to the west.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Cowslip Cottage dog friendly?

Yes, Cowslip Cottage welcomes up to two well-behaved dogs. The cottage has a fully enclosed, south-facing lawned garden that you can access directly from the sitting room via French doors, so your dogs can be out and back in with minimal fuss. There's even a welcome hamper on arrival that includes treats for them alongside the food and fire fuel for you.

  • Are dogs allowed at Cowslip Cottage year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, and nothing in the details suggests otherwise. If you want to confirm availability for a specific time of year, it's worth checking directly with the property.

  • What should I know before visiting Cowslip Cottage with my dog?

The cottage accommodates a maximum of two dogs, and they're expected to be well behaved. There are no stairs anywhere in the property, which makes life easier for dogs and humans alike, and the enclosed garden means you can let them out safely without worrying about them wandering off. The surrounding area is excellent for dog walking, with Druridge Bay's miles of sand and dunes a short drive away and the River Coquet close by in the village itself.
