The garden is fully enclosed and contemporary, with a decked area, outdoor dining furniture, a charcoal BBQ and a wooden bench set among relaxed seaside planting. Patio doors from the day room on the ground floor open straight onto it, and the dogs drift in and out through them while somebody curls up with a good book on the bench.
The first floor is given over to one bright, airy living room with a kitchen and dining table in it, a large corner seat around the Smart TV and room for everyone at the table. Patio doors open onto a Juliet balcony from which the tops of the nearby dunes can be seen, and once back from the dunes the dogs are usually asleep before dinner is on the table. Rye is 3 miles away, medieval and cobbled, its streets lined with galleries, cafes and pubs, and the dogs can come along for the wander. Hastings, slightly further afield, has its quaint Old Town, and the shingle beach at Dungeness, famous for its wild beauty, is an altogether different kind of seaside for the dogs to explore.
