Eachwick Stables

Eachwick, Northumberland

A six bedroom converted stable block for eleven near Stamfordham with four bathrooms, an enclosed garden and underfloor heating downstairs, three dogs welcome.

Eachwick is a hamlet in the park of a country hall west of Ponteland, which is why a stable block converted here comes with the space it does. Eachwick Stables is dog friendly, eleven across six bedrooms with three dogs, its enclosed garden running 30 metres behind. It exists for the sort of gathering nobody can host at home.

You arrive through the stables' own wide hallway, limestone underfoot, the utility opening off it. The kitchen and dining space beyond has windows at both ends and an island to sit at while somebody cooks for eleven. The lounge next door keeps its beams, its stone walls and two separate seating areas, one round the wood burner and one round the television, so the group divides without leaving the room. Underfloor heating runs that whole floor, where three dogs will spend the week.

Six bedrooms and four bathrooms is what makes an eleven person booking work rather than merely possible. A king sits on the ground floor with a shower room beside it, keeping the oldest guest and the oldest dog level. Upstairs, a super king with a bath in an alcove, a king, two twins and a single cover most family shapes without anybody on a sofa.

Stamfordham lies 4 miles off, built round one of the longest greens in Northumberland with a stone lock-up in the middle of it. Belsay is the other way, where a family quarried stone for their own hall and then made a garden in the hole they left, a ravine of sandstone walls with rhododendrons climbing them. Nearer than either, the lanes out of Eachwick are quiet and level, which is what three dogs want first thing.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Eachwick Stables dog friendly?

Yes, Eachwick Stables welcomes up to three dogs. The converted stable block has an enclosed garden stretching 30 metres behind the property, and the whole ground floor — with its underfloor heating — gives dogs plenty of comfortable space to settle in alongside eleven guests.

  • Are dogs allowed at Eachwick Stables year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, but we'd recommend confirming directly with the property when you book to make sure nothing has changed and to discuss your specific dogs.

  • What should I know before visiting Eachwick Stables with my dog?

The property accepts a maximum of three dogs, so it's worth checking availability for your full pack before booking. There's a utility room off the entrance hallway — handy for muddy paws after a walk — and the lanes directly out of Eachwick are quiet and level, making them an easy first outing. Nearby, Belsay and Stamfordham are both within a few miles if you're looking for somewhere to explore.
