The name is accurate. From Exmoor View the hills of the national park fill one side and the sea fills the other, and the chalet sits among trees in a small wooded park at Chapel Cleeve, on the Somerset coast west of Minehead. It is a dog friendly chalet for four, two double bedrooms, one dog welcome and doggy extras left for them.

Everything is on one level once you are up the three steps to the door. The living and dining room opens through French doors onto a broad deck, and from the deck the garden runs out as enclosed lawn, two steps down, patio and seating included, which is all the ground one dog needs. The kitchen has the view too, and a coffee machine, and the rear bedroom looks straight out at the hills.

This is a place for two couples or a small family and a single dog who likes an audience. The decking is where the day begins and ends: coffee first thing while the dog checks the lawn for anything new, and in the evening a glass of something as the light goes over the water. Returning guests remember the view and the treats left for the dog, in that order.

Blue Anchor, with its long sweep of sand and its cafés, is less than a mile down the hill, and the England Coast Path runs along the shore from there. Dunster is close, with its castle, its yarn market and the packhorse bridge at Gallox, and Exmoor itself starts inland, open moor and wooded combes where a dog can walk all day. The West Somerset steam railway runs nearby for a day out with the dog along.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Exmoor View dog friendly?

Yes, Exmoor View welcomes one dog. The chalet has an enclosed lawned garden for them to explore, and the owners go the extra mile with doggy extras left out for your pet on arrival. Returning guests mention the treats almost as fondly as the view.

  • Are dogs allowed at Exmoor View year round?

The listing doesn't specify seasonal restrictions, so it's worth contacting the owner directly to confirm availability for your dates. Given the year-round appeal of the Exmoor and Somerset coast setting, it's a great spot whatever the season.

  • What should I know before visiting Exmoor View with my dog?

The chalet accommodates one dog, so it's not suitable for multi-dog households. Access to the main living space requires three steps up to the door, and the enclosed garden has two steps down from the deck to the lawn, so it's worth bearing that in mind if your dog has mobility issues. Blue Anchor beach and the England Coast Path are less than a mile away, and Exmoor's open moorland and wooded combes are close by for longer days out.
