Book now

Georgian at the front, far older at the back, Flo's Cottage is a Grade II listed townhouse in the small market town of Kington, on the Herefordshire side of the Welsh border. It sleeps four and welcomes two dogs, and as dog friendly lets go, it has more character in its walls than most.

Out the back is a garden that is secluded, peaceful and secure, laid out as a patio and a courtyard with somewhere to sit and a hammock for the afternoon. The dogs can be let out without a second thought, and the owners leave treats and extras for them on arrival. It is a small garden, the kind a town house has, but enclosed ground this close to a high street is worth a great deal with two dogs.

The house is set over three floors. On the ground floor, the living and dining room and the kitchen, entered through the original kitchen door. On the first, a snug with games and films and a double bedroom beside the bathroom; on the second, a twin room under the roof. Beds have Emma mattresses and sofas you sink into, and a dog curled up in the snug while someone reads is the scene this house was arranged for.

The centre of Kington is less than a minute's walk, with independent shops and cafés, and Offa's Dyke Path passes close by on its way up onto Hergest Ridge, open hill with long views where a dog can properly run. Hay-on-Wye, the book town, is a short drive south, and Ludlow and Leominster are within reach to the east.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Flo's Cottage dog friendly?

Yes, Flo's Cottage welcomes up to two dogs. The owners go out of their way to make four-legged guests feel at home, leaving treats and extras for the dogs on arrival.

  • Are dogs allowed at Flo's Cottage year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions, so it's worth contacting the owners directly to confirm availability for your dates. Given the secluded, secure garden and the dog-friendly setup throughout, it's clearly a place designed with dogs in mind whatever the season.

  • What should I know before visiting Flo's Cottage with my dog?

The cottage has a secluded, enclosed garden at the back — a patio and courtyard space where dogs can be let out freely without worry, which is a real bonus for a town-centre property. Beyond the garden, Offa's Dyke Path is close by, leading up onto Hergest Ridge where dogs can run properly across open hill with long views, so you're well placed for a proper walk straight from the door.
