Garth Farmhouse is an imposing stone house in an elevated position on a working farm at Llanuwchllyn, with views towards Bala and its lake. It is spacious, stylish and dog friendly for three dogs, and the walled garden gives all three a place to take in the view with you.

Up the steps, the porch takes the boots. The kitchen and diner has a range style electric oven and a comfy seat for browsing the recipe books, the dining area is flooded with natural light, and its French doors bring the outside in. In the lounge the inglenook fireplace and its wood burner take centre stage, logs supplied to get you started, and three dogs will be arranged before it by the first mug of tea.

A cosy snug follows on from the lounge. Upstairs are three spacious bedrooms with lovely views, two doubles and a twin, each with a television, and a shower room lit by a sun tunnel. Out at the rear, a paved patio has the private hot tub, and the walled garden mixes grassy banks, gravel and paving, with al fresco dining and a charcoal BBQ looking out over the farm. Three dogs settle on the banks as the light fades towards the lake.

The farm around the house is a working one, with cattle, sheep and horses, and the local pub is within walking distance. Bala, a few miles down the road, has Wales's largest natural lake to stroll around with three dogs, and Southern Snowdonia a plethora of footpaths. For a day out there is the National White Water Centre, the mountain bike trails at Coed y Brenin, King Arthur's Labyrinth, and Harlech's sandy beach and historic castle.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Garth Farmhouse dog friendly?

Yes, Garth Farmhouse welcomes up to three dogs, which is a generous allowance for a property sleeping six. The ground floor is laid out with dogs in mind, and the walled garden gives them an outdoor space to settle into — though they'll likely test the boundaries before finding their spot by the table.

  • Are dogs allowed at Garth Farmhouse year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth contacting the property directly to confirm availability for your dates. What we can say is that the setting — lake shore in one direction and mountain tracks toward the Arans in the other — makes it a rewarding destination whenever you go.

  • What should I know before visiting Garth Farmhouse with my dog?

Garth Farmhouse sits on a working farm with livestock beyond the walled garden, so dogs will need to be kept under control outside that boundary — the wall is there for good reason, not just appearance. Up to three dogs are welcome, and between Llyn Tegid's four miles of lake shore and the quiet lane into Cwm Cynllwyd climbing toward Aran Fawddwy, there's plenty of walking on the doorstep.
