Book now

Hafan Y Traeth is a beautifully converted chapel in the village of Dyffryn Ardudwy, halfway between Barmouth's harbour and Harlech's castle, and it wakes to panoramic sea views of the North Wales coast. This five star, dog friendly conversion sleeps eight, with three dogs welcome.

Because the chapel is reverse level, the views come with the living space. The hall takes sandals, boots and coats, and upstairs the chapel opens into one dramatic room for cooking, eating and lounging, its feature windows pouring in daylight, with exposed beams and underfloor heating. There is a dining table for up to twelve and books and games in the lounge, and since the owners ask that dogs keep out of the bedrooms, this is where three dogs gather with the family.

On the same floor are a shower room and a twin with an elevated view of the living area. Down at ground level sit a king with a curved wall and an en suite wet room, and two super king zip and links, one with a shower room, one with a bathroom. The enclosed garden is a few yards from the chapel, across a lane, laid to lawn with a fence, shrubs, seating and a BBQ, and three dogs will be ready at the door for every trip over.

The beach is 1.5 miles away, with golden sands, cafes, pubs, museums and galleries all within easy reach. Harlech has the Royal St David's links, Coed y Brenin has its mountain bike trails, and the footpaths of Snowdonia give three dogs a new walk each day. The cottage next door, Hafan yr Haf, can be booked alongside for four more guests.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Hafan Y Traeth dog friendly?

Yes, Hafan Y Traeth welcomes up to three dogs. It's a five-star property near Dyffryn Ardudwy in Gwynedd, with an enclosed lawn that's genuinely theirs to enjoy once you're through the gate.

  • Are dogs allowed at Hafan Y Traeth year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, but we'd recommend contacting the owner directly to confirm availability and any conditions around your dates.

  • What should I know before visiting Hafan Y Traeth with my dog?

The owner asks that dogs stay off the bedrooms, so it's worth agreeing sleeping arrangements with your group before you arrive. The enclosed garden is a short walk from the front door rather than directly attached to the house, so you'll need to keep dogs on a lead for those few yards until you're through the gate. On the upside, the Rhinogydd hills are right behind the village — the Roman Steps via Cwm Bychan make for a serious day out that will leave even the most energetic dogs well and truly ready for rest.
