At Headhouse Farm the neighbours are ducks, horses and hens, and the strawberries and raspberries are grown on the farm itself. This delightful, dog friendly conversion for five sits quietly in the Aberdeenshire village of Clatt, welcoming two dogs, with an enclosed garden off the lounge and excellent walking, cycling and hiking trails through unspoilt countryside all around.

The spacious porch takes the outdoor clothing and walking boots, and off the hallway are a shower room and a spacious bedroom with a single bed and a futon. The stylish open plan living space runs from the well equipped kitchen to a dining table for family meals and a lounge with comfy seating and a TV, where the dogs settle after the day's walk. Upstairs are two double bedrooms and the bathroom.

The lounge's patio door opens onto the enclosed garden, with its seating area, BBQ and chimenea, and beyond it a large grassed area makes room for football or rounders. Through the gate is a BBQ hut with a charcoal BBQ and seating for al fresco dining, and giant outdoor games and a snooker table are there for guests. A dog kennel is also available if you want to leave your four-legged friend for a few hours, and the cottage is decorated for Christmas.

Bennachie Forest and the Bennachie Hills have fine walking trails with fabulous views over Aberdeenshire, and the Gordon Way is great for wildlife spotting with a dog at your side. The Auld Kirk at the heart of the village dates back to 500AD, castles, ruins and ancient monuments are all around, and the Speyside distilleries and the seaside villages of the Moray coast, with their dolphins, make fine days out.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Headhouse Farm dog friendly?

Yes, Headhouse Farm welcomes up to two dogs. There's an enclosed garden off the lounge for safe outdoor time, a larger grassed area beyond the fence for games, and even a kennel available if your dog needs a quiet spell away from the action.

  • Are dogs allowed at Headhouse Farm year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dog stays, but it's always worth checking directly with the host when you book, particularly if you're planning a visit during busier periods.

  • What should I know before visiting Headhouse Farm with my dog?

This is a working farm, so your dog will need to be comfortable around ducks, hens and horses — and patient enough to admire them through a fence rather than investigate further. A porch at the entrance is handy for sorting leads and muddy kit before you head inside, and the surrounding area offers everything from forest tracks to the hill trails of Bennachie for longer days out.
