The hallway has storage for coats and boots, and the open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area beyond is a great social space, with lovely parquet flooring, original beams and the wood burner. The kitchen has dining for the whole party. The views from the sunroom are glorious, and once the dogs are dry it is a great place to sneak off with a good book or a glass of wine.
A bathroom sits at the foot of the stairs and a second is on the first floor, along with three beautiful bedrooms, a double, a king and a twin, all with lovely countryside views. The pretty enclosed garden is reached from the sunroom or the lounge, with a lawn, a patio with a charcoal barbecue and seating for al fresco meals, and a private hot tub to sink into while the dogs nose about on the lawn.
Pooley Bridge has country pubs serving good food and local beer, a waterside café and independent shops, and beautiful Ullswater is just 2 miles away. Take the boat from Pooley Bridge to Howtown and walk to Glenridding, one of Wordsworth's favourite walks, with views of Ullswater and Helvellyn. Dalemain Mansion is a lovely day out, and Aira Force, 8 miles off, set among ancient woodland, makes a fine walk with the dogs.
