1 / 24Hillside Cottage Pembrokeshire
Freshwater East, Pembrokeshire
A spacious, contemporary property for four at Freshwater East, newly decorated, with a generous enclosed private garden, sea in the background and one dog welcome.
Freshwater East beach is a short, wood lined walk from Hillside Cottage, and it is one of only a few local beaches with no dog restrictions. That alone makes this spacious, contemporary property a fine dog friendly choice for four guests and their dog, newly decorated for 2024 and set among beautiful, mature gardens.
The generous, enclosed private garden is laid to lawn, and its patio, furnished for dining outdoors and equipped with a BBQ, overlooks the mature planting. Its unspoilt countryside views have the sea as their background, and the dog will be just as happy on the lawn after the beach as anyone is at the table. A lockable shed is there for bikes, wetsuits and boards.
Shoes and coats find a home in the hallway, and the open living and dining space sits at the front of the house to make the most of the countryside views. Light floods in, the seating gathers round the Smart TV, four sit down to eat together, and the contemporary kitchen has a Nespresso coffee machine for the morning. Down the corridor, both bedrooms have super king beds, the second a zip and link which converts to twins on request, each with ample storage, beside a shower room. One house rule: please keep the dog off the furniture.
The beach itself is a vast, Green Coast award winning sweep of golden sand backed by dunes. Pembroke is 3.5 miles away, with dog friendly shops, cafes, bars and restaurants and its famous castle, and from Stackpole Quay, 3 miles off, the coast path leads the dog on to Barafundle Bay.

Is Hillside Cottage Pembrokeshire dog friendly?
Yes, Hillside Cottage welcomes one dog. The cottage has a generous enclosed private garden, and the beach at Freshwater East is just 0.2 miles away down a wooded lane rather than a road — a much nicer start to the day than a pavement walk.
Are dogs allowed at Hillside Cottage Pembrokeshire year round?
The listing doesn't specify seasonal restrictions, so it's worth contacting the property directly to confirm availability and any conditions around your dates. What we can say is that the setup — enclosed garden, easy beach access, a nearby coast path — suits a dog-friendly trip at any time of year.
What should I know before visiting Hillside Cottage Pembrokeshire with my dog?
The cottage accommodates one dog, and the enclosed garden gives them space to settle without needing to be watched constantly. The beach at Freshwater East is a short walk down a wooded lane, and if you're up for a longer outing, Barafundle Bay is about 3 miles around the coast — a dog-friendly beach with no road access, reached via a cliff path from Stackpole Quay.
