Crickhowell, Powys
A single storey cottage for two in the gated grounds of a country house on the edge of Crickhowell, with an enclosed fenced garden, a wood burner, Usk Valley views and one dog welcome.
Hollyfield sits in the gated grounds of a country house on the edge of Crickhowell, with wonderful views across the Usk Valley and beyond. A charming, dog friendly bolthole, it suits two people and one dog beautifully, all on a single storey, and from the town the walk up Table Mountain rewards both of them with panoramic views.
Arrival is up a winding driveway, and inside the cottage opens into a lovely, large open plan living space, kept warm by a central wood burner that throws its heat into every part of the room, with logs provided. Floor to ceiling windows let the natural light flood in. The dog claims the spot nearest the burner while the tea is made at the breakfast bar and supper comes together in the oak kitchen, five ring gas hob and all.
There is a dining table with plenty of room for two, a chair or two to unwind in with the TV, and a coffee machine for the mornings. A double bed awaits in the bedroom, and its en suite has a double sized shower, inviting after days spent out exploring. Outside, the enclosed, fenced garden brings patio, furniture and barbecue together for dinners and drinks in the open air, the dog stretched out within reach of the table.
Pack the walking boots, because the surroundings are spectacular and made for heading out with a dog. The Blaen y Glyn Waterfalls are 14 miles away, a fine place for a picnic and an easy walk past tumbling falls and over bridges, and Bike Park Wales, 20 miles from the door, gives thrill seekers a day of getting muddy. Crickhowell itself, a lively town, is close at hand for supper out.

Book with holidaycottages.co.ukFrequently Asked Questions
Is Hollyfield dog friendly?
Yes, Hollyfield welcomes one dog as part of your booking. The cottage has been set up with dogs in mind — the garden is fully enclosed and fenced, the layout is all on one floor with no awkward stairs, and there's a patio that, if our description is anything to go by, your dog will have claimed by mid-afternoon.
Are dogs allowed at Hollyfield year round?
The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth contacting Hollyfield directly to confirm availability for your dates. What we can say is that the wood burner and single-storey layout make it a genuinely practical choice in any season.
What should I know before visiting Hollyfield with my dog?
The booking allows for one dog, so it's not the right fit if you're travelling with two or more. The garden is fenced all the way round, which gives your dog room to roam safely without you having to watch the gate. If you're planning walks, Table Mountain above Crickhowell is a short, steep climb that reportedly tires a dog out very satisfyingly before lunch.
