Kilmington, Wiltshire
A detached single-storey barn conversion for four on a working beef farm at Kilmington, with vaulted ceilings, a large enclosed garden with countryside views, a warm outside tap for paws and two dogs welcome.
Home Barn is a beautiful detached barn conversion reached by a private driveway, set in the heart of a working beef farm at Kilmington amid open countryside and farmland. Two dogs are welcome, walks are in abundance right from the door, and its large enclosed garden, looking out over far reaching countryside, makes this a rural, dog friendly retreat for four.
Inside, everything is on one level. Vaulted ceilings and exposed beams rise over the open-plan living, cooking and eating space, where bi-fold doors open to the sun-trapped garden and let the outside in, a Smart TV sits opposite comfy seating, and the kitchen's electric Range and coffee machine see to lazy breakfasts. Back from a walk, the utility/boot room is there for drying coats, boots and the dogs, and a warm outside tap rinses off muddy paws first.
The two bedrooms, both immaculate and both with Smart TVs, are a king-size, en-suite with a shower, and a twin zip and link that converts to a super-king, alongside a contemporary family bathroom. Outside, the large enclosed east facing garden is a place for you and the dogs to relax together, and a secluded patio comes with seating and a charcoal BBQ for dining alfresco.
Stourhead House and Gardens is just a few minutes' drive away, and with Wiltshire, Dorset and Somerset all within reach there is Longleat and its Safari Park, Wincanton Racecourse and Stonehenge to visit. Further afield lie the historic spa town of Bath, Salisbury with its cathedral and the Jurassic Coast, though for the dogs the walks from the doorstep may be all they need.

Book with holidaycottages.co.ukFrequently Asked Questions
Is Home Barn dog friendly?
Yes, Home Barn welcomes up to two dogs. The barn has an enclosed garden at the back where dogs can roam freely, and there's a warm outside tap by the door — a genuinely useful detail after muddy walks on the greensand ridge.
Are dogs allowed at Home Barn year round?
The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's best to check directly with the owners if you're planning a trip at a particular time of year. What we can say is that the setup — enclosed garden, outside tap, utility room with washing machine — is built for dogs in all conditions.
What should I know before visiting Home Barn with my dog?
Home Barn takes a maximum of two dogs, so it's worth confirming that before you book if you're travelling with more. The garden is enclosed, which gives dogs (and their owners) a bit of breathing room on arrival, and the warm outside tap by the door is ideal for washing off after walks. Nearby, Stourhead's estate paths and the high ground around Alfred's Tower offer excellent walking with dogs.
