Howgate Foot is a beautifully updated farmhouse in the Lowther Valley, made for families and groups exploring the Lake District. This dog friendly farmhouse sleeps eight with two dogs, and its large enclosed garden wraps around three sides of the house, with plenty of space for children and dogs to play.
A vibrant entrance hall leads to the heart of the house, a light, airy kitchen and diner with lovely window seats, a range oven with induction hob and a fabulous dining table for a celebratory meal. The utility room takes the coats and muddy boots when the dogs come home, and the cosy snug has a Smart TV and plenty of seating. The ground floor also holds a pretty twin, which can become a super-king, served by an en suite shower room.
The main lounge is on the first floor, calm and soothing under a vaulted ceiling, with comfortable seating and views over the garden and countryside. Two king-size rooms there each have an en suite, one with a beautiful roll-top bath, alongside a charming twin and a stylish family bathroom with a feature sunken bath. Outside, the patio has furniture and a fire pit, where the dogs settle as the evening draws in, and across the courtyard a cosy annexe with a king-size bedroom and its own shower room can be added for two more guests.
Askham is a welcoming village with two friendly pubs, a handy shop and the historic Askham Hall, and Lowther Castle and Gardens are nearby. There are miles of walks to enjoy with the dogs, with Haweswater Reservoir 3.5 miles away and the majestic lake of Ullswater close by, and the market town of Penrith has great pubs, restaurants and independent shops.
