Hyll View Cottage

Tosside, North Yorkshire

A cottage for four at Tosside on the edge of the Forest of Bowland with a ground floor shower room, bi-folding doors and an enclosed garden, two dogs welcome and more on request.

The hall was designed around muddy paws, and somebody then added a shower room beside the utility on the same floor, so the wet end of a day is over before anybody reaches the stairs. Hyll View Cottage stands at Tosside on the Yorkshire and Lancashire border, dog friendly, four beds, two dogs and more considered on request, with an enclosed garden and patio out the back.

The living space is one room with bi-folding doors down one side, so it opens to the garden and a dog is in and out all afternoon. A kitchen and breakfast bar sit at the back, the dining table in front of the doors. Upstairs the king splits into twins and the second bedroom takes two singles under Velux windows framing Pendle Hill. The family bathroom is up there; the shower room is not, which is the point.

Four people, two dogs, and a village café round the corner that hires bicycles out. Tosside is small and high and sits on a border, which is a particular sort of quiet, and the cottage is finished better than most things with this much ground round them. Two couples do well here, and so does a family with children old enough to take the twin room and the hill in its window.

Gisburn Forest begins 1.5 miles off with waymarked trails through the trees, some signed for dogs. Stocks Reservoir lies inside it with a circuit round the water and hides for the birds. Beyond both, the Forest of Bowland opens into moor and clough with few roads across it, and Pendle stands alone to the south with a path to the top that everybody walks once.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Hyll View Cottage dog friendly?

Yes, Hyll View Cottage is dog friendly and welcomes two dogs as standard. If you're travelling with more than two, it's worth getting in touch to ask, as additional dogs are considered on request.

  • Are dogs allowed at Hyll View Cottage year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, and the cottage has been set up with muddy, outdoorsy visits firmly in mind — there's a dedicated ground floor shower room for washing off after walks. That said, it's always worth confirming directly with the owners when you book.

  • What should I know before visiting Hyll View Cottage with my dog?

The cottage has been thoughtfully designed for dogs — there's a ground floor shower room next to the utility for cleaning up before anyone heads upstairs, and the enclosed garden and patio make it easy to let your dog roam freely. The bi-folding doors in the living space mean dogs can move in and out to the garden throughout the day. Gisburn Forest is just 1.5 miles away with waymarked trails, some specifically signed for dogs, and Stocks Reservoir has a circuit walk too, so you won't be short of things to do together.
