Knipe Fold is a beautiful detached cottage in a tranquil, rural spot at Outgate, close to Tarn Hows and with lovely views across the Esthwaite Valley. For six guests and a couple of dogs, this dog friendly Lakeland home comes with an enclosed garden, lawned and with a big patio.
The spacious living room comes in two parts that glass doors can divide. The lower end has the TV and French windows out to the patio, and two steps up, the impressive stone fireplace houses a cosy wood burner, comfortable seats gather round and a window seat looks across the valley, while the dogs lie out in front of the fire. The bespoke kitchen is stylishly finished with a range cooker, and the utility's drying cabinet is very useful after a day on the fells.
Meals happen in the light and airy dining extension, whose French windows open onto the garden. Upstairs are the en suite master bedroom, a twin, a second double and the main bathroom. Outside, the enclosed garden pairs a lawn with a large patio set with tables and chairs, and the dogs have it to explore while lunch is laid out. A ground source heat system and solar panels keep the cottage lovely and cosy, and the garage takes the bikes.
Tarn Hows, cared for by the National Trust, has a circular accessible walking route with beautiful mountain views, a lovely loop for a dog. Hawkshead and Coniston are both under 2 miles away, Hawkshead with the Beatrix Potter Gallery, and Coniston Water and Windermere are a short drive for water sports and pleasure cruises.
