Book now

Maes Yr Hendre is a luxurious stone farmhouse in the countryside at Maenan, where Snowdonia National Park begins, and the working farm around it has a number of private walks to enjoy with the dogs. This five star, dog friendly farmhouse takes eight guests and two dogs, with beautiful views and a private hot tub.

Refurbished in 2019, the farmhouse has exposed stone walls, high ceilings, exposed beams and every creature comfort. The back door opens into the boot room and utility, with plenty of space for boots and coats when the dogs come in muddy, and a shower room alongside. The kitchen has oak work surfaces, the dining table is perfectly positioned for everyone to gather, and in the lounge the dogs stretch out before the wood burner.

A double is downstairs, while two king-size rooms, one en suite, and a lovely twin are on the first floor, each with views worth waking to, and the family bathroom offers a freestanding bath. From the enclosed garden the views run from sunrise to sunset, and it holds the hot tub, with towels provided, a table and chairs and sun loungers, and the dogs keep you company as the wildlife comes and goes.

Beyond the farm's own walks, the dogs can join the public footpaths further afield, including the landmark of Cadair Ifan Goch. Conwy, a World Heritage Site, has its castle, town walls and fishing harbour, Llanrwst and Betws y Coed are a short drive away for everything from gentle strolls to challenging climbs, and Bodnant Gardens, Zip World and Surf Snowdonia add to the list.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Maes Yr Hendre dog friendly?

Yes, Maes Yr Hendre welcomes up to two dogs. The farmhouse has been set up with dogs genuinely in mind — there's a boot room with a full shower room right at the back entrance, so muddy or wet dogs can be sorted before they reach the rest of the house, and the enclosed garden gives two dogs the run of the lawn safely.

  • Are dogs allowed at Maes Yr Hendre year round?

The listing doesn't specify seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth contacting the property directly to confirm availability for your dates. What we can say is that the surrounding valley offers good walking on lanes and field paths whatever the season, with around two hours of flat riverside walking on the doorstep.

  • What should I know before visiting Maes Yr Hendre with my dog?

The property takes a maximum of two dogs. The boot room and shower room at the back entrance are a real practical bonus — ideal after a walk along the river — and the enclosed garden means you won't need to worry about dogs getting out onto the road. If you have an older or less mobile dog, the ground floor double bedroom near the shower room means they (and you) can avoid the stairs altogether.
