Mariners Corner

Bexhill-on-Sea, Sussex

Sixteen shallow steps up to the door of Mariners Corner, a two bedroom house for four at Bexhill-on-Sea with an enclosed garden, a wet room and one dog welcome.

Book now

There are sixteen steps up to the front door, wide ones and shallow ones, and that is worth having in advance rather than on arrival. Once you are up them the house is flat. Mariners Corner takes four at Bexhill-on-Sea, dog friendly, two bedrooms, a wet room, an enclosed garden, and one dog comes with it.

The hall opens into a lounge with two sofas, then a kitchen and dining area behind it, and off the kitchen a conservatory holding two rattan chairs, the washing machine and the dryer. The king and the twin come off the same hall. The wet room is the other half of the steps: no rim and no lip, the shower running onto the floor, which is a great deal easier than a bath when one dog has been in the sea.

Four people and one dog is the size of it, and the house is arranged so that nothing about a beach day has to be carried upstairs. Behind it the garden is enclosed, furniture on it, small and complete in itself. The dryer in the conservatory does the work that a week on shingle creates, and the chairs beside it are where somebody sits with a coffee while the dog dries out.

This house stands back from the middle of the seafront, and the walking runs in both directions from there. West of the town the built edge finally gives out at Cooden Beach, shingle with a golf course behind it and a sea wall the whole way to it. One dog gets a level walk into the town one way and out of it altogether the other.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Mariners Corner dog friendly?

Yes, Mariners Corner welcomes one dog. The house has been set up with a beach holiday in mind — there's a wet room with no rim or lip on the shower, an enclosed garden, and a dryer in the conservatory for dealing with the inevitable end-of-day sandy dog.

  • Are dogs allowed at Mariners Corner year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs at Mariners Corner, so it's worth contacting the owner directly to confirm availability for your dates. What we can say is that the setup — wet room, dryer, enclosed garden — suits a dog-friendly stay in any season.

  • What should I know before visiting Mariners Corner with my dog?

The main thing to be aware of is the sixteen steps up to the front door — worth knowing in advance, particularly if your dog struggles with stairs. Once inside, the house is flat throughout, and the garden is enclosed, so there's no need to worry about your dog making a dash for it while you're settling in.
