Merse Cottage is a beautiful south facing stone house dating back to the late 1800s, set off a quiet country lane near the sleepy village of Hutton. Sleeping five, this dog friendly cottage has an enclosed, private, mature garden that is ideal for children and the family pet, and it welcomes two well behaved dogs.
From the lobby you walk into the cosy lounge, where the log burner is lit for the evening, there is a TV and a stack of board games, and two dogs settle close to the fire. The well equipped kitchen opens off the lounge and gives onto the garden, while a dining room with a feature fireplace is a great place to catch up over dinner after a day exploring. The family bathroom sits downstairs, and on the first floor there are two large, bright bedrooms, a king and a triple with three singles.
The garden has furniture and a barbecue, and with the kitchen door opening straight onto it, the dogs are never far from the fresh air. Free range eggs from the farm shop just across the road make for a fine breakfast, and a welcome pack waits on arrival. For a larger party, the adjacent Castle Barns Cottage can be booked as well.

Paxton House, less than 4 miles away, has lovely walks around the estate and a tea room, Berwick-upon-Tweed is the medieval town nearby, and the sandy beaches at Spittal and Coldingham are within a short drive, along with castles from Floors to Bamburgh.
