Built from Island stone and thought to date back to the 1700s, Milk Parlour Cottage was formerly a farm building and is now a beautiful, comfortable dog friendly cottage for three, with two dogs welcome. It lies less than a mile from the village of Godshill, near the centre of the Isle of Wight, which puts most of the island within easy reach of the dogs and their people.

Everything is on a single level. You step into a pretty, welcoming lounge and diner, comfy seats gathered round a Smart TV, then through to a stylishly designed kitchen with a Lavazza coffee machine for the morning. Two cosy bedrooms follow, one double and one single, and the bathroom's shower is the walk in kind. With no stairs anywhere, the two dogs are never far from the rest of the party.

Outside there are two gardens. Behind the cottage is a charming walled garden with a patio and furniture for eating out, while the front has an attractive fenced garden with a lawn, shrubs and a bird table, where red squirrels and a variety of birds are frequent visitors. The dogs will watch the squirrels with great interest.

Godshill is a pretty village of thatched cottages, restaurants and tea shops, and two dogs can stroll there for a morning. The market town of Newport and its medieval castle are 6 miles away, and the sandy beaches at Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor are a little further. There are many fantastic walks and cycle routes across the island, and larger parties can book the neighbouring Hayloft Cottage, which sleeps three more.

We research every description carefully and believe it to be accurate, but details can change. Please confirm anything important, especially dog rules, with the booking agent or property owner before you book.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Milk Parlour Cottage dog friendly?

Yes, Milk Parlour Cottage welcomes up to two dogs. The property has two outdoor spaces — a fenced front garden with grass and a walled patio garden at the rear — so your dogs have room to stretch out without any worry about them wandering off.

  • Are dogs allowed at Milk Parlour Cottage year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, but we'd recommend confirming directly with the owner when you book to be sure of the details for your dates.

  • What should I know before visiting Milk Parlour Cottage with my dog?

The cottage is a single-storey conversion of an 18th-century farm building, so there are no stairs for dogs to navigate — everything is on one level, which is handy for older or less agile dogs. The maximum is two dogs, and the property accommodates up to three people. Godshill village is less than a mile away on foot, and beyond it you'll find farmland, country lanes and the coast within easy reach in several directions.
