Mountain View is a newly built, architect designed house at Kinlochleven, shown on Channel 4's Grand Designs, a dog friendly house of real quality in a peaceful, secluded spot with uninterrupted views of one of the Highlands' most iconic mountain ranges. Family dogs are warmly welcomed, though not puppies under six months.
The house is reverse level. A spacious hallway on the ground floor takes boots, jackets and the rest of the outdoor gear, and the dogs come in through it after a long day in the hills. This floor holds a king size bedroom with its own seating area and a double with a single bunk above, with a stylish shower room between them plus a utility room for laundry.
Upstairs is the open plan living space, with large picture windows on the mountains, a wood burner, a dining area and a kitchen that opens onto a fully enclosed balcony with seating. The master king size bedroom and a bathroom with a sunken bath share that floor. Out in the private, enclosed rear garden are a hot tub, a Swedish sauna, a BBQ hut that seats eight and a raised playhouse, and the dogs nose round the patio while supper cooks. A detached games room adds a pool table, table football and a PlayStation.
Kinlochleven sits at the heart of the UK's Outdoor Capital. Walking, hiking and cycling routes leave from the door, the West Highland Way among them, so the dogs are on the trail within minutes. Loch Leven is there for kayaking and paddleboarding, Glencoe and the Ben Nevis ranges are within easy reach, and all three village pubs serve good food and welcome dogs.
