Every bedroom at North End Cottage has French doors, and every one of them opens onto the same patio garden at the back. Six people and two dogs can stay in this detached dog friendly cottage at Longframlington, a village in the middle of Northumberland, with everything on the ground floor and countryside views from the rear.

The garden is enclosed, a patio running along the house with furniture on it and a summerhouse at the side, and because so many doors lead onto it the dogs can be let out from almost anywhere. There are no stairs to think about inside or out, which suits an older dog, and wildlife can be watched from the patio over a cup of tea while the dogs keep an eye on it too.

Inside, the living room and kitchen are one light space, with a wood burner, the first fuel for it included, a breakfast area and French doors to the patio, with a separate dining room beyond. The main bedroom is a king with an en suite bath, the second a super king on zip and link beds, and the third a twin, and the family bathroom has a bath and its own shower cubicle. Doggy extras are in the welcome basket, and the evening routine settles quickly: walk, dinner, the burner lit and two dogs asleep in front of it.

Cragside, with its woods and lakes, and the Simonside Hills above Rothbury are both close for serious walking with the dogs, and Brinkburn Priory sits by the Coquet just along the road. Alnwick Castle is a short drive north, and the Northumberland coast at Warkworth is within easy reach.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is North End Cottage dog friendly?

Yes, North End Cottage welcomes up to two dogs alongside up to six people. The cottage has been set up with dogs in mind — there's an enclosed rear garden accessible from almost every room via French doors, no stairs inside or out, and doggy extras included in the welcome basket.

  • Are dogs allowed at North End Cottage year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth contacting the property directly to confirm availability for your dates. Given the cottage's setup — with a wood burner, enclosed garden and ground floor layout — it looks well suited to visits in any season.

  • What should I know before visiting North End Cottage with my dog?

The cottage takes a maximum of two dogs, and the entirely ground floor layout means no stairs to navigate, which is particularly handy for older or less mobile dogs. The rear garden is enclosed, so dogs can be let out freely, and there's great walking nearby at Cragside, the Simonside Hills and Brinkburn Priory along the River Coquet.
