Point Break

Westward Ho!, Devon

A one bedroom cottage for two at Westward Ho! with a wood burner, an attic crow's nest looking over Bideford Bay, an enclosed patio garden and two dogs welcome.

Book now

At the top of Point Break there is a crow's nest. It is an attic room up a second flight of stairs, and from it the view goes out over the pebble ridge and across Bideford Bay to Baggy Point. Below it is the rest of a one bedroom house, dog friendly and let to a couple with two dogs, a few minutes on foot from the centre of Westward Ho!

You come in by a private side entrance, through the garden. It is a patio rather than a lawn, fully enclosed, with a table and chairs, and it is where the first coffee of the day goes while the dogs check the corners. Inside, the ground floor is a living and dining room with two sofas and a wood burner, the first fuel for it provided, and a modern kitchen with a breakfast bar.

This is a couple's cottage, and a quiet one. The king size bedroom is on the first floor with the shower room across the landing, and it looks out to sea over the same ridge. The evening shape of it is simple: back from the beach, dogs fed and flat out in front of the burner, and the last of the light watched from the crow's nest. There is a doggy pack waiting on arrival and a stair gate if the dogs are better kept downstairs.

The beach is a 5 minute walk, 2 miles of sand backed by the pebble ridge, with Northam Burrows Country Park running behind it for open walking on the flat. The coast path heads off along the cliffs to the west, and Appledore, Instow and Clovelly are all close enough for a morning out with the dogs.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Point Break dog friendly?

Yes, Point Break is set up specifically with dogs in mind. Up to two dogs are welcome, and on arrival you'll find a doggy pack waiting for them. There's an enclosed patio garden for sniffing out the corners over a morning coffee, and a stair gate is available if you'd rather keep the dogs to the ground floor.

  • Are dogs allowed at Point Break year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth contacting the property directly to confirm availability for your dates. Given it's set up as a dog-friendly cottage rather than a seasonal concession, it's designed with dogs as part of the stay throughout.

  • What should I know before visiting Point Break with my dog?

Point Break welcomes up to two dogs and has a fully enclosed patio garden, so they can't wander. The beach is a 5-minute walk away, with 2 miles of sand and Northam Burrows Country Park behind it for open, flat walking. A stair gate is provided if you'd prefer to keep the dogs downstairs, and the first load of fuel for the wood burner is included — handy for drying off after a day out.
