Book now

Russells Farm Lodge is a stylish, contemporary detached lodge for two on the island's south side, in a peaceful rural setting with walking and cycling routes right outside the front door. Two dogs are welcome at this romantic dog friendly retreat, with a network of footpaths to explore straight from the lodge.

The lodge is all on one level, opening straight into the kitchen, lounge and diner, with a dining table for a home cooked meal and a long talk about the day's adventures, a Smart TV for films, and a wood burner in the lounge for the dogs to doze beside after the day's walk. There is a comfortable king-size bedroom with storage space and a lovely shower room, and a welcome pack is provided.

Patio doors open onto a private enclosed patio with views of the surrounding fields. There is outdoor furniture, a BBQ for eating outside, and a fire pit with fire lighters and wood provided, and the sunsets out there are best watched with the dogs at your side. Guests have access to the two fields on the grounds, where dogs must be kept on a lead because of livestock in the surrounding fields. Dry storage for bicycles, motorbikes and paddleboards is available by arrangement with the owners.

Godshill is 1 mile away, well known for its thatched cottages, independent shops, tearooms and model village, and the market town of Newport has a medieval castle. Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor, with their sandy beaches, are a short drive away, and Ventnor Botanic Garden and Osborne House are both within reach. Back at the lodge, the footpaths and countryside walks start again at the front door, with two keen dogs ready for them.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Russells Farm Lodge dog friendly?

Yes, Russells Farm Lodge is set up specifically for two guests and two dogs — that's the combination the lodge was fitted out for, not a compromise. The enclosed garden gives your dogs a safe space to roam freely, and the surrounding lanes and downs offer excellent walking with very little traffic.

  • Are dogs allowed at Russells Farm Lodge year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, and there's nothing to suggest otherwise. If you want to confirm availability for a specific time of year, it's worth checking directly with the owners when you book.

  • What should I know before visiting Russells Farm Lodge with my dog?

Guests are welcome to walk the two fields on the grounds, but dogs must be kept on a lead there as there is stock in the surrounding fields. Beyond the garden and fields, the lodge sits in chalk downland country with green lanes and field paths in every direction — good off-the-beaten-track walking territory for dogs.
