Book now

Springwood takes one dog, and gives it a large enclosed garden to itself. The house is a detached stone property in the hamlet of Worton in Wensleydale, reached up a sweeping drive past lawns, with views across the Ure Valley, and this dog friendly house suits a family of six with a single, well behaved companion.

Springwood has two wood burners, in the living room and the kitchen, with a basket of logs to start them off. The dining room sits between, and a utility room holds the freezer and the washer dryer, useful for a dog's towels after a day on the fells. A separate toilet is downstairs. Upstairs, the king size room comes with an ensuite shower, two twin rooms share the family bathroom, and a stairgate is available.

It is a house built for a family holiday in the Dales, with space for everyone to spread out and a garden with furniture and a barbecue for the long evenings. The dog gets the garden to itself while the table is laid, and then find a spot by whichever burner is lit.

The River Ure runs through the valley floor at Worton Bridge, and the waterfalls at Aysgarth are a short drive east. Semerwater, a glacial lake in the side valley above Bainbridge, is near, and so are Hawes and Askrigg, with Hardraw Force and the high ground of Wensleydale on every side for walking the dog.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Springwood dog friendly?

Yes, Springwood welcomes dogs — one well-behaved dog is allowed to stay. Your dog gets a large enclosed garden to themselves, and once the day is done, they're welcome to find a spot by whichever wood burner is lit.

  • Are dogs allowed at Springwood year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions, so it's worth contacting the owner directly to confirm availability for your travel dates. What we can say is that it's well set up for dogs at any time of year — the utility room is handy for washing muddy towels after a day on the fells, and two wood burners keep things cosy when the weather turns.

  • What should I know before visiting Springwood with my dog?

Springwood takes one dog only, and they should be well-behaved — so it's not the right fit if you're travelling with multiple dogs. On the practical side, a stairgate is available if needed, and the enclosed garden means your dog can roam safely while you're getting settled. The surrounding area is excellent for walking, with the River Ure, Aysgarth Falls, Semerwater and the high ground of Wensleydale all close by.
