Book now

St Davids Long House is a single storey cottage of real quality, with vaulted ceilings, exposed beams and a very large enclosed walled garden. Graded five stars, this dog friendly retreat welcomes two dogs, and the coastal path is only a short walk away.

Through the hallway, with its WC and washer/dryer, the cottage opens into a stylish lounge, kitchen and dining space under the beams. In the well-equipped kitchen there is a dishwasher among the rest, and the lounge has a TV and the wood burner, whose first basket of logs is provided. It does not take two dogs long to settle by the warm side of it.

A second hallway leads to the bedrooms. Both have king-size beds and TVs, and the master adds a chaise longue and its own doors onto the garden. A wonderful wet room completes the inside. Outside, lawn covers the very large walled garden, with garden furniture and a BBQ out on the patio, so the dogs have all the room they could want to run off a morning before supper.

The pretty harbour at Porthclais is a short amble, where you can kayak or head out to sea by boat, and Porthllisky's pebble beach is reached on foot by lanes and fields, with the dogs leading the way. Whitesands Bay is a short drive for sand. St Davids, with its cathedral and bishop's palace, has tea rooms, pubs and restaurants, and the beach is 1 mile from the cottage.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is St Davids Long House dog friendly?

Yes, St Davids Long House is dog friendly, and two dogs are included with every booking. The property has been thoughtfully set up for dogs — there's a large walled garden, a wet room where muddy dogs can be hosed down standing up, and easy access to the coast path and several nearby beaches.

  • Are dogs allowed at St Davids Long House year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, and two dogs come as standard with the booking rather than as an optional extra. It's worth confirming directly with the owner if you have any specific questions about timing your stay.

  • What should I know before visiting St Davids Long House with my dog?

Up to two dogs are welcome, so it's worth checking with the owner if you have more. The wet room is a real practical bonus — it's designed so you can wash a dog straight off the coast path without lifting them into anything. The main bedroom opens directly onto the walled garden, which the dogs tend to figure out quickly, so expect an early start if you're sleeping in there.
