Sunsets over the sea are the speciality of the summer house at The Beeches, a family friendly home perched on the island's south west coast at Chale. Three bedrooms sleep six, with three bathrooms to share between them, and this dog friendly house welcomes a single dog to spacious garden grounds looking over countryside and sea.

A covered porch opens to the hallway and a spacious triple aspect lounge and dining area with an ornamental fireplace, where the dog can settle once the bags are in. Double doors lead to a generously sized conservatory full of natural light, and the contemporary kitchen pairs a Rangemaster induction cooker with extensive sea views. This level also keeps a shower room. Up the stairs, the king bedroom has an en suite, the twin has rural and sea views, the super king takes in the sea from double aspect windows, and the family bathroom has dual sinks.

Step outside into extensive, well established gardens. The enclosed garden has outdoor furniture, sun loungers and a table tennis table plus table football in the summer house, and the dog can keep watch for the wildlife that often passes by. An open pond sits in front of the house, which the owner notes is unfenced. As the day ends, the summer house is ideally placed for magnificent sunsets.

Chale Bay has striking cliffs and peaceful beaches for strolls and picnics, and walkers and their dog can take the Tennyson Trail through the countryside. St Andrew's Church, half a mile away, is celebrated for its medieval architecture and the views from its tower, Blackgang Chine is a mile off for the children, and the Military Road gives a scenic coastal drive.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is The Beeches dog friendly?

Yes, The Beeches welcomes one dog. Your dog has access to the ground floor, the conservatory, and the enclosed garden, and there's a covered porch at the entrance for drying off and cleaning up after walks.

  • Are dogs allowed at The Beeches year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, but we'd recommend confirming directly with the owner when you book to be sure nothing has changed.

  • What should I know before visiting The Beeches with my dog?

One dog is allowed, and there are a couple of things worth knowing before you arrive. The property has a pond out in front of the house on the lawn, and new dogs are walked past it on a lead before being let off — a sensible precaution. The garden itself is enclosed, so once your dog is settled and familiar with the grounds, there's a safe space for them to roam freely.
