The Byre at Brothershiels sits in a wonderful rural spot among the rolling Lammermuir Hills, with the Scottish Borders close by and the city of Edinburgh within easy reach. This stylish period cottage is dog friendly, sleeping four with room for two dogs, and the country around it is a delight for walkers, with numerous tracks and forest trails to explore.

A spacious hallway with ample storage takes the coats, boots and leads at the end of a walk, and the dogs follow the smell of supper through to the well equipped kitchen. The lounge is the heart of the place, with fantastic vaulted ceilings, a wood burner and a lovely dining area for meals together. Back through the hallway is a stylish, spacious bathroom with bath and separate shower, and on the first floor are the king size room with its own TV, a light and bright twin and a separate WC.

Round at the rear of the cottage is the enclosed garden, with a seating area where the dogs can stretch out after a long day on the trails. From late March until mid November there is a hot tub to enjoy as well, and for the rest of the year the wood burner comes into its own.

Edinburgh is around a 40 minute drive away, with its museums, theatres and castles, and festivals all year round, the Fringe and the Military Tattoo among them. Closer to home the forest trails and country tracks give the dogs all the walking they could want, and there are trout fisheries nearby and the renowned River Tweed for anyone who fishes.
