1 / 24The Cormorant
Anstruther, Fife
A five star lodge for four near Anstruther, one of a pair with The Stork, with sea views, a hot tub on the enclosed patio and one dog welcome.
The Cormorant is one of a pair of lodges above the East Neuk, The Stork its neighbour, and two couples travelling together could do worse than take both. On its own it is a five star lodge for four with sea views from the hallway's picture window onwards, a hot tub outside, an enclosed garden, and one dog welcome to the whole dog friendly arrangement.
Both bedrooms are super kings that split into twins, each with an en suite, underfloor heating and its own patio doors, so the sea arrives before breakfast does. The living space runs open plan around a wood burner and a kitchen with a wine cooler, the Forth doing something different through the glass every hour. The spot in front of the burner is claimed by the dog on night one.
It reads as a celebration booking: an anniversary, a big birthday, two people and a dog marking something. The days settle fast, coast path in the morning, hot tub before dinner, and the only decision left is which side of the lodge gets the sunrise.
Anstruther's harbour and fish suppers are 2 miles off, the coastal path passes the end of the road, and the beach ladder runs Cambo, Kingsbarns and Crail inside a few minutes' drive. St Andrews sits north for golf and grandeur, and the dog would point out that Kingsbarns at low tide is the finest running surface in Fife.

Is The Cormorant dog friendly?
Yes, The Cormorant welcomes one dog. The lodge has an enclosed garden which makes it a comfortable base for a dog, and if the spot in front of the wood burner is anything to go by, they tend to settle in quickly. The surrounding area is genuinely excellent for dogs too, with the coastal path right at the end of the road and beaches like Kingsbarns within a short drive.
Are dogs allowed at The Cormorant year round?
The listing doesn't specify seasonal restrictions on dogs, but nothing in the details suggests otherwise. If you're planning a specific dates trip, it's always worth confirming directly with the property to be sure.
What should I know before visiting The Cormorant with my dog?
The Cormorant accepts one dog, so it's worth bearing that in mind if you're considering booking alongside the neighbouring lodge, The Stork, as two couples with dogs would need to check arrangements for each property. The enclosed garden is a practical plus for keeping dogs secure, and the coastal path passes the end of the road, making it easy to head straight out for a walk. Kingsbarns beach is just a few minutes' drive away and is particularly good at low tide.
