The Lynes Farmhouse sits atop a hillside surrounded by 100 acres of its own farmland, with glorious sweeping views across to Ben Rinnes and down the Spey Valley towards the Cairngorms National Park. Two dogs are welcome, and with a private enclosed garden backed by all that ground, this dog friendly farmhouse for five is made for space and fresh air.
Inside, the traditional stone cottage is light, airy and homely: a lounge with a wood burner, plush sofas and room for all five, a bright modern kitchen diner for leisurely breakfasts, and a single bedroom, shower room and utility room on the ground floor. Up the carpeted stairs are a double and a twin, tastefully decorated with plenty of space for clothes, along with the family bathroom. The enclosed garden holds the BBQ and endless countryside views, and the dogs can take in the scenery from it while supper cooks.
Behind the house, ancient Scots pines lead into the Elchies forest, and that becomes the dogs' discovery of the week, with forest walks and cycling tracks from the doorstep and flora and fauna in endless variety. A woodland path runs the mile to the 18th century village of Archiestown when the walk wants a destination, with friendly places there for a local meal.
Further afield, the Spey Bay coastal reserve makes a fine outing, the beaches of the Moray Coast are around 25 miles away, and there are water sports and skiing for the more active. With the farmland all around, two dogs will be in no hurry to leave the hill.
