The Old Pottery is a delightful single storey dog friendly cottage set in four acres near Tregaron, with an enclosed garden, woodland, a wildlife pond and a trickling stream. One of two properties on the site, it takes four guests with their two dogs, and light pollution is so minimal that the stargazing is a pleasure in itself.
Stone steps lead up beside the stream to the front door, and the dogs will want to investigate every bit of it on the way in. Inside, the lounge, kitchen and diner are open plan, with a dining table for planning the next day out and a Smart TV for evenings in. Both bedrooms are king-size with en suite shower rooms, and the zip-and-link one can become a twin if asked. The whole place has been thoughtfully and tastefully furnished, and it is a real pleasure to holiday in.
Out in the enclosed garden, a paved patio is set up with a table, chairs and charcoal BBQ, a fine spot for supper with the dogs close at hand. Beyond the garden lie four acres of grounds for guests to stroll, with established gardens, woodland, the wildlife pond, the stream, and the resident chickens and cats.
Tregaron is an old market town with a gastro pub, shops and the Red Kite Centre, and its history runs deep, with Roman roads used by 18th century drovers, relic forts and standing stones. The historic university town of Lampeter lies to the west. The Cambrian Mountains and the Ceredigion Coastal Path both offer excellent scenic walking with a dog, and the pretty coastal town of Aberaeron and the Dolaucothi Gold Mines make good days out.
