There is a petanque court in the garden. It is what the outside of this cottage was arranged around: a south facing enclosed garden with the court in it, a fire pit, sun loungers and a barbecue. Tree View is dog friendly at Peasmarsh in Sussex, four people on a single floor, two dogs welcome.

The front door opens on a hall with room to drop coats and boots in, and nothing after it goes up. The lounge holds a sofa, an armchair and a gas fire made to look like a burner. The kitchen and dining room open out of it. Back along the hall are the two bedrooms, a super king that will be split into twins on request, and a double. The shower room is a walk-in, which two dogs will never notice and two people will.

South facing and enclosed is a good pair of things for a garden to be, and the fire pit at the far end means the day finishes out there rather than indoors. The utility off it takes care of the washing, which with two dogs and 5 miles between here and the sea is the provision that earns its keep. Four people, one floor, no stairs to argue over.

The village stands on the ridge north west of Rye, footpaths going off it in most directions, and the walk across the fields into the town is the one to do first. Camber's sand lies a short drive east. Great Dixter is 6 miles the other way, gardens laid out round an Arts and Crafts house and among the most visited in the county. Two dogs get the fields on foot and the sand by car.

Yes, Tree View welcomes up to two dogs. The cottage is single storey with no stairs to navigate, and the south facing enclosed garden gives dogs a safe space to roam freely without you having to worry about them wandering off.

  • Are dogs allowed at Tree View - Peasmarsh year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's best to check directly with the property when booking to confirm availability for your dates.

  • What should I know before visiting Tree View - Peasmarsh with my dog?

The enclosed garden is a real bonus for dog owners, and the utility room off it is well set up for muddy paws after a walk — handy given that the sea at Camber is only a short drive away and the village has footpaths heading off in most directions. The walk-in shower is practical for people, and the whole cottage being on one floor means no tricky stairs for dogs to deal with.
