Rhosygwalia, Gwynedd
A detached stone farmhouse for six near Bala with panoramic views towards the lake, an enclosed garden, 70 acres to explore, two wood burners, a games room and one dog welcome.
Ty Mawr is a detached, stone built farmhouse full of character at Rhosygwalia near Bala, set high with panoramic views over the countryside towards the lake. Six guests and one dog can stay in this dog friendly farmhouse, and it comes with 70 acres, 30 of them mountain, along with woodland, a seasonal stream and an enclosed garden.
Guests arrive by the back door, where the utility room takes the outdoor gear and holds a washing machine and second fridge, with a stylish bathroom here too. The first of the two wood burners is in the lounge, and beyond a cosy snug the bright kitchen and diner has the second. The dog gets a choice of two fires and will settle the question quickly.
After dinner there is the games room, with a football table and its own Smart TV, and there are two staircases, one from the games room and one from the lounge. Every bedroom is on the first floor, and each wakes to fabulous views: two king size rooms and a twin, along with a shower room and a landing library. Outside, the enclosed garden has a gravelled patio set for morning coffee, a charcoal BBQ and sun loungers, and the dog can watch the wildlife with you from sunrise to sunset.
Footpaths and cycle routes into Southern Snowdonia lead direct from the property, so one dog's best walks begin at the door. Bala has cafes, pubs, shops and Wales's largest natural lake, for sailing, a stroll around the lake or a ride on the steam railway, and the National White Water Centre is 5 miles away. Zip World Slate Caverns and the trails of Coed y Brenin are within a longer drive.

Book with holidaycottages.co.ukFrequently Asked Questions
Is Ty Mawr dog friendly?
Yes, Ty Mawr welcomes dogs. The property has seventy acres of its own land — fields and hillside — so walks start directly from the door without meeting a stile onto someone else's ground, and an enclosed garden provides a secure space for last thing at night.
Are dogs allowed at Ty Mawr year round?
The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restriction on dogs, and with two wood burners to follow round the house and seventy acres outside, it's set up well for a stay in any season. It's always worth confirming directly with the owner if you're planning a visit at an unusual time of year.
What should I know before visiting Ty Mawr with my dog?
The key thing to know is that only one dog is permitted at Ty Mawr. Beyond that, the setup is generous — a private mile-long drive, thirty acres of mountain ground and the rest in fields, all belonging to the property, so your dog will spend most of the week on grass rather than tarmac.
