Violet's Retreat is a welcoming Lincolnshire cottage on the owners' smallholding, set in the heart of the Lincolnshire Marshes near the unspoilt Lincolnshire Wolds, and it is made for dog friendly holidays. Two dogs are welcome, and extra dogs may be considered if arranged with the owner beforehand.
Inside, high ceilings and exposed beams crown a spacious open plan kitchen diner, with a double range electric oven and a dining table to enjoy the results. The lounge is warm and cosy, with the wood burner as the focal point of the room, and once back from the marshes the dogs stake their claim beside it while a DVD goes on. A double bedroom with matching pine furniture sits on the ground floor beside the bathroom, while the spacious master bedroom upstairs has a double bed, a built in wardrobe and its own en suite.
Outside, the enclosed garden catches the evening sun and has shaded spots too, with a picnic table and charcoal BBQ for dining al fresco while the dogs nose about the garden. Bikes have storage too.
Cycling or strolling with the dogs, through the countryside one day and along the beaches the next, is the way to spend a week here, and the beach is 3 miles off. From October to December the local beach at Donna Nook hosts one of the largest grey seal colonies in the UK. Louth, the historic capital of the Wolds, and Horncastle, famed for its antiques, are a little further afield, and Mablethorpe, Cleethorpes and Lincoln are all within a drive.
