It sits behind, enclosed and south facing with the dale in the view, reached through its own gate rather than a back door, which is how a good many Dales cottages were built. At the bottom corner Cauldron Falls drops through a wooded cleft into a pool two minutes from the last house, and Turner painted it. Waldendale behind the village runs south into empty country with a track up it and a dog free to use all of it.
