Book now

Weavers Cottage sleeps twelve across six bedrooms and four bathrooms, and somewhere in all of that the owners put in a utility room for washing paws. That is the sentence that decides it. This is a dog friendly house at Slaithwaite taking two dogs, with enclosed ground front and back and a hot tub on the terrace looking at open country.

The ground floor runs open plan: a kitchen with a breakfast bar, a built bar beyond it, a long table with benches, and a separate sitting room with a wood burner for anybody who has had enough of eleven other people. A cinema room with a projector takes the overflow, and every floor of it is open to a dog. The paw washing utility and a WC open off the hall, and a small double with its own shower room finishes the floor, the room to ask for if stairs are an issue.

The house was built for one occasion: the whole family, three generations, under one roof for a week. Six bedrooms means nobody doubles up who would rather not, four bathrooms means the mornings work, and a galleried seating area with games consoles upstairs gives the teenagers somewhere that is not the kitchen. Two dogs come with the party, and both sides of the house have enclosed ground for them.

Slaithwaite sits on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal with water running through the middle of the village and a level towpath both ways. West of it at Marsden the canal vanishes into Standedge, the longest and deepest canal tunnel in the country, more than 3 miles under the Pennines. The moor on top is open, empty and worth a day to a dog.

Yes, Weavers Cottage welcomes two dogs. The house has enclosed ground both front and back so they can stretch out safely, and there's a dedicated utility room off the hall specifically for washing paws after a muddy day on the moors — a detail that tells you the owners have genuinely thought this through.

  • Are dogs allowed at Weavers Cottage - Slaithwaite year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, but it's always worth checking directly with the owners when you book to confirm availability and any specific terms around your stay.

  • What should I know before visiting Weavers Cottage - Slaithwaite with my dog?

The cottage takes a maximum of two dogs, so it's worth confirming that before you book if you're bringing more. Dogs have the run of all floors, and the enclosed gardens front and back mean they're secure outside without constant supervision.
