Wye Barn stands where Cressbrook Dale joins the River Wye and Millers Dale becomes Monsal Dale, at the very heart of classic Derbyshire dales scenery, with direct access onto the Monsal Trail. It is a beautifully presented detached dog friendly barn for six and two dogs, and walks and cycle trails begin from the doorstep.
Original features run through it: exposed beams, oak fittings, deep Indian stone sills and barn doors with shutters. The kitchen and diner has a serene country feel, with cream units and a kitchen table for a lazy breakfast and the day's plans. The lounge has a wood burner, seating to sink into and a TV, and double doors open to the garden to let the fresh air in, with the dogs wandering out and back. There is a snug as well, and a separate WC.
Upstairs, the master pairs a king size bed and exposed crook beams with an en suite shower room, alongside another king and a twin room; the bathroom offers a bath and its own shower. The garden is fully enclosed, with lovely views of the dale, a table and chairs and a BBQ for summer evenings while the dogs nose about. At the back of the garage a drying room with a heater, hanging rails and a boot rack takes the wet gear after a day out.
The dale sits between Buxton and Bakewell, which is 4 miles away, and this part of the Peak District National Park is wonderful country for walkers, cyclists and their dogs. The Tissington Trail and High Peak Trail are within reach, and Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Peveril Castle are all worth a visit. Come in December and the barn is dressed for Christmas.
