Yeomans

Docking, Norfolk

A four bedroom house for seven at Docking in north Norfolk, five miles back from the coast, with an enclosed garden and patio, a ground floor bedroom and two dogs welcome.

Book now

Docking stands five miles back from the sea, which on this stretch of Norfolk is a rarer address than it sounds and is most of the point of the place. Yeomans is the dog friendly house here, seven people across four bedrooms, two dogs allowed, with an enclosed garden and a patio out behind it.

The ground floor holds a lounge with two long sofas turned towards a wood burner, its first basket of logs supplied, and a kitchen whose table will seat eight. A double bedroom is down here as well with a WC beside it, so one of the four sleeps at garden level. A utility opens off the kitchen with the washer and dryer in it, and two dogs pass through on the way in from the patio.

Above are the master with its king, a second king that comes apart into twins, and a single, sharing the family bathroom between them. Seven people and one bathroom reads tighter on paper than it works out in practice, because the separate WC downstairs belongs to that half of the house. Two dogs therefore get a whole floor with a garden door in it and no particular reason ever to go up.

Holme Dunes run eight miles along the coast, a reserve of sand hill, pine and salt marsh with the sea on the far side of the lot. Between the village and the water the country is arable and gently rolling, lanes leaving Docking in five directions with almost nothing on them. Two dogs get field and lane on the ordinary days here and a very large tideline on the others.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Yeomans dog friendly?

Yes, Yeomans welcomes up to two dogs. The house has an enclosed garden and a patio to the rear, and dogs have the run of the ground floor — which includes a utility room with direct access from the patio, making muddy returns from walks a straightforward affair.

  • Are dogs allowed at Yeomans year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's best to check directly with the owner when booking if you're planning a visit at a particular time of year.

  • What should I know before visiting Yeomans with my dog?

A maximum of two dogs are allowed at Yeomans. The ground floor is set up well for them — there's an enclosed garden, a patio, and a utility room that acts as a natural decompression zone between outside and in. Beyond the house, the surrounding lanes and arable countryside offer good everyday walking, and Holme Dunes is within reach for bigger days out along the coast.
