Prussia Cove to Praa Sands Walk
Cornwall
This stretch of Mount's Bay coast is a working slice of Cornish history, with Prussia Cove's smuggling caves giving way to the wide pale sand of Praa Sands. The route follows the South West Coast Path between the two and returns inland on field paths and quiet lanes, making a satisfying half day loop that is a dog friendly outing for most of the year.
Dogs are welcome year round at Prussia Cove, but Praa Sands has Easter to October beach restrictions in part of the bay, so plan for cliff and lane sections rather than running on the main beach in summer. The route crosses two short stretches of the A394 with no formal pedestrian help, and a couple of stone-foothold stiles will need a lift for less athletic dogs. Parking sits in the Prussia Cove honesty car park or at Praa Sands main car park, and there is a beach cafe and pub at Praa for a finishing pint.
