Tywyn Beach

Tywyn Beach is reasonably dog friendly, earning a 6/10 rating in our directory. It's a long, wide sandy beach with good off-lead space, though a seasonal restriction on the main beach section means the experience varies depending on when you visit.

Dogs have full access to the beach outside of the summer season. However, under a Gwynedd Council PSPO, a seasonal restriction applies to the main beach section from 1 April to 30 September — dog-accessible sections of the beach do remain available during this period, so it's worth checking the layout before you go.

The main thing to plan around is the seasonal restriction (1 April to 30 September) on the primary beach zone, so if you're visiting in summer, keep that in mind and stick to the dog-permitted sections. Outside that, you'll find a wide, flat beach with plenty of off-lead space, plus car parks near the beach and public toilets in town. If you fancy making a day of it, the Talyllyn Railway — the world's first preserved railway — runs from Tywyn inland toward the Snowdonia foothills, which makes for a lovely add-on to your visit.
