Ockenden Manor Hotel & Spa

Cuckfield, West Sussex

Yes. Dogs can stay overnight, up to 2 dogs per room.

An Elizabethan manor house hotel and spa in Cuckfield, with 27 rooms, where two dogs can share your room and the grounds are open to them.

Ockenden Manor is an Elizabethan manor house on the edge of Cuckfield village, 27 rooms and a spa in gardens overlooking Cuckfield Park. What you get is a dog friendly hotel that hands a dog most of the house: dogs are welcome in the oak-panelled bar and the drawing room, out across the grounds, and in the room with you at night.

Dogs stay in the room with you, up to two per room, and further into the grounds the hotel allows a dog off the lead if you choose. The bedrooms are named after members of the two families who have owned the building since 1520, and the Tudor rooms in the oldest part are oak-panelled or beamed, some with four-poster beds. The hotel keeps dogs out of the Spa Suites. Which other rooms take them it doesn't state, so ask when you book.

Dinner is the open question: the hotel doesn't say whether the dog can come to it, so ask that before you reserve. The dining room looks out across the gardens, the kitchen works from locally sourced ingredients, and afternoon tea and a glass of Sussex can both be had at the bar.

The spa sits inside a nineteenth century walled garden, separate from the house: eight treatment rooms, an indoor pool that swims through to a heated outdoor one, hot tubs inside and out, sauna and steam rooms and a floatation tank where saltwater holds the body up. Dogs are kept out of the spa, but the grounds are open to them, and Southwick Beach, the nearest beach we list, is 12.5 miles away, with the dog rules on its page.

Facts checked October 2026 from the hotel's own website. Details can change, so please confirm anything important, especially the dog rules, with the hotel before you book.
