Carlisle, Cumberland
Yes. Dogs can stay in selected rooms, up to 2 dogs per room.
An AA four star hotel in the village of Wetheral near Carlisle, where dogs dine with you in Walton's Bar and a walk starts at the front door.
The Crown Hotel is an AA four star hotel in the village of Wetheral, on the edge of Carlisle and surrounded by countryside and greenery. From the front door, a short walk takes you across the River Eden, past the ruins of the abbey and the church, while to the east a 19th-century viaduct overlooks the river. That gives this dog friendly hotel a walk for you and your dog before you have even unpacked.
Some of the rooms are set aside for dogs and can be added when you book, and the doggy package gives your dog its own bed and bowl for the stay. Up to two dogs can share a room. Dogs can't be left in the room unsupervised. The rooms are individually designed with comfort, style and elegance in mind, and the Superior rooms look over the hotel gardens.
Walton's Bar & Eatery is the hotel's dog friendly dining area, and the team there makes even four-legged friends welcome. It has been a country pub since 1838 and serves hearty Cumbrian classics, from fish and chips to deep-filled pies. The Conservatory Restaurant, a light-flooded room with large glass windows over the gardens, holds one AA Rosette and serves traditional Cumbrian dishes with a twist, and afternoon tea brings finger sandwiches, freshly cooked scones and cakes.
Hotel guests have complimentary use of Riverside Fitness, with an indoor heated 12 metre pool, a gym, and a steam room and sauna to finish in. When it's the dog's turn again, Rickerby Park and the River Eden, one of Wildpack's dog walks, is 3.6 miles away.
